Better than the first one! I loved "Into The Darkness" and this kept to its expectations. The setting in a 'school' where she has to learn more about her abilities fulfilled my "boarding school drama" craves, and Charles- the poor sap assigned to watch over her -is funnier than ever. The poor bastard, he really has it tough with her. lol.I was thoroughly entertained. The dark themes promised that suspenseful edge, the sex kept things hot and NOT boring. The dialogue and banter between Sasha and Charles was a hoot. I loved it all. Even when things got better for Sasha, but that's all I'll say.
I highly recommend this. I love the world that's been created, and the things that Sasha goes through to find out just how special she is. Not just to the people fighting a war long overdue for an ending, but to herself. *thumbs up*
Slight warning to those who aren't used to sex or same sex or even mentionings of same sex, and slight torture/major action fights.

ok so... let me start off by saying that I obviously really liked this book. I gave it four stars so it was worth the money, but my assessment is mostly based on the fact that I enjoy books that have "cool kid" dialogue. Which basically refers to snarky sarcasm and immature banter. It always makes for a genuine laugh. I do feel that it is necessary to mention that this book is grossly underdeveloped. It is very similar to the first book in that aspect. It seems as though the author is leaving out key moments. For example, the love story between the two main characters seemed to come out of nowhere. Yes we knew there was an unexplainable attraction, but I still want the love explain! Is that so much t o ask. I want to read about stolen glances while walking down the hall, and longing looks in the cafeteria, and lingering touches that speak volumes. This book had none of that. All we get is girl likes boy, boy frowns (but secretly likes girl) then bam! love story complete. I was less than thrilled by the lack of development, therefore I had to subtract a star.You will read more about a developing friendship with Charles.
So basically, if you are looking for a balance between love and war... you won't get it here. This is a short but sweet novel that requires a bit more imaginative day dreaming on the readers end to fill in the blanks with our juicy love dreams.
I wanted to read this in one sitting but unfortunately I did have to do other things like go to sleep! I loved the first one but this was even better.
It's truly about the ability to build characters that connect to the reader and Sasha and Stefan absolutely do with a sexy edge that is so satisfying because we are on their side. We like them a lot and so understand the attraction despite the craziness Sasha brings to Stefan and his life. This is an excellent author who knows how to wield the words and expressions to make us co-exist the action. We are in it and we don't want to leave it because despite the dangers we are having such a good time, and if we are honest are totally and hopelessly in love with Stefan. Well, why wouldn't you be?
This was humourous. This had a high hotness level with a strong alpha male and a very feisty female . This had some witty banter and some suitable evil doers. In short it was fun and great reading. I can't wait for the next one!
I literally just read all 5 books in like 3 days. Loved every single one. They were quick reads, but didn't lack any depth like you find with some shorter novels. Love the characters, love the story line, love the visuals. K.F. Breene uses beautiful imagery throughout the series, which enhances the story so much. I love when I get sucked into a story, and can see everything playing out in my mind so perfectly matched to what I'm reading. I read some of the reviews before starting the series, because I was curious. There were multiple reviews about how there was so much rape throughout that the reader was put off. I didn't find that to be true. I could see how some might think so, but it was more dominance in my opinion, than actual rape. And the lucky rape whistle was pretty funny. Maybe I just have a skewed sense of humor... Just preorder number 6, and I can't wait!!
I counted down the days for a month waiting for this book to come out. Why three stars fangirl? Well listen, I LOVE Sasha and Stefan together. I really do. I felt VERY let down by the ending of the book. I expected so much more from the book from reading Book 1. I was expecting overall just more. It may be just from waiting for it for so long and I guess that’s ok but I just feel like I was left hanging. Otherwise, it was fantastic. Funny, sassy and sparky. Yes there was some serious heat between Sasha and Stefan; i loved every second every scene between them. Sasha comes up against some ill feelings and she still perseveres. Stefan finally caves into his own feelings and that in itself can be sexy. This book was a success and yes i was that person counting down the hours until it went live. It has the usual amount of snarkiness from Sasha and a little more dry humor from Stefan. Hands down I’m a little in love with Stefan. Hard core warrior on the outside sticky goober on the inside…I like to think so. There is ONE huge epic battle scene which after the first book was also kind of a let down but I’ll live. Rumor has it that K.F. Breene is working on the 3rd book already so maybe it’ll be so absolutely amazing that I’ll pass out or something.
